Obituary

Peggy Sue Anderson, 65, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2026, surrounded by her family and under the compassionate care of hospice.

Born on March 20, 1961, in Seoul, South Korea, Peggy Sue Ruhnke was the beloved adopted daughter of Fred and Marcella (Zinnel) Ruhnke, who adopted her in 1963. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Ron (Rick) Anderson, building a life of love and laughter.

Peggy graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1980 and then attended ICCC.

In 2010, Peggy suffered a massive stroke that left her disabled and changed the course of her life. What followed was a long and difficult journey, but she faced it with a strength and determination that made her family incredibly proud. She was a true fighter. Through every challenge, she continued to find reasons to smile, laugh, and enjoy the people and moments that mattered most.

Peggy found happiness in fishing on the boat, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing her guitar, and making memories with the family she loved so dearly. She was a longtime and faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where her faith and church family were an important part of her life.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Ron (Rick) Anderson, her two children, Shelby (Alan) Unkel of North Liberty, Iowa and Jordan Anderson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, one grandson Theodore Unkel and her brother Larry Ruhnke.

She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, Fred and Marcella (Zinnel) Ruhnke.

Visitation for Peggy will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Nicholas Thackery with burial service to follow at North Lawn Cemetery.
